Live Your Life with Capital Y-O-U-R

We come into this world whole, perfect, and free. As children, we follow our joy, our curiosity, our own inner compass. But somewhere along the way, something shifts.

We start to receive feedback—sometimes from parents, teachers, friends, or even strangers that when we fully express ourselves, it makes others uncomfortable. We’re told, “That’s too much.” Or, “Don’t do it that way.” Or, “People won’t like you if you do that.”

And slowly, little by little, we begin to alter who we are. We trade pieces of our authentic selves in exchange for approval, acceptance, and belonging.

I call this exchanging yourself.

I’ll never forget when my daughter was five years old. She wanted a pair of light-up shoes more than anything. When I finally bought them for her, she was absolutely thrilled. She wore them proudly to school, beaming with joy.

But when a few classmates told her they looked like “baby shoes,” she came home crushed. The next morning, she quietly decided not to wear them again.

That’s exchanging yourself. That moment when you stop doing what lights you up to be acceptable to someone else.

And here’s the truth: we all do this. Often without even realizing it. We change how we talk, dress, act, or even dream—because somewhere along the way, we’ve internalized the belief that it’s safer to be who others want us to be than to be who we really are.

But the cost is enormous. Over time, we forget what we actually want. We wake up one day, realizing we’re not fully living our lives—we’re living someone else’s version of it.

The good news? Coming back to yourself is actually quite simple. Not always easy, but simple. It begins with one powerful step: noticing.

Noticing where you shrink yourself.
Noticing where you say yes when your heart says no.
Noticing when you put aside your own joy to avoid judgment.

This awareness opens the door back to authenticity. Back to freedom. Back to living your life with a capital Y-O-U-R.

And that’s exactly what we’re going to explore together in my upcoming 4-week group training this October: Live Your Life with Capital Y-O-U-R.

It’s a journey into reclaiming the real you—the one who doesn’t need to exchange herself for approval anymore.

Here are the details:
